Safe Harbor’s favorite local Nonprofit organizations.
Giving benefits everyone! Whether you are a resident in a Safe Harbor property or one of our property management clients, giving creates a better world for all! We all reach a point in our success when we realize we want to give back out of the business growth we have been given. We reached that place and established some partnerships in our community. If you are looking for a place to give back – maybe one of these organizations is the right fit for you. The rewards of your gift are always greater than the gift itself. Always.
First on the list is https://www.Caring.com. Caring.com is the leading online destination for those seeking information and support as they care for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones.
More than 40 million people in the United States care for someone over age 50, yet most have little preparation or experience when they begin their caregiving journey. Caring.com steps in to provide information and guidance to these people. We all know a senior in need. Caring.com serves them.
Secondly, many don’t realize that the Puget Sound has an organization dedicated specifically to finding homeless people, homes. The Landlord Liaison Program (LLP), is a part of the Associated Ministries group of organizations, located in Tacoma, WA, empowers landlords to service more homeless clients by providing risk mitigation funds and services to support this vulnerable population. Potential clients of LLP call 211, The United Way, for Help from LLP. LLP does not help the homeless directly but works closely with several agencies like The United Way, in the Greater Puget Sound area to service many in need of housing.
Thirdly, our Regional Manager, Marie Pettie serves on the board of Farmer Frog, a non-profit organization. This large organization is known for Sprouting Simple Change: growing kids, cultivating community and nurturing habitat for all living things through real food.
Farmer Frog has delivered 30,000 pounds of food since May, during the COVID crisis. And 2 million people in Washington State have benefitted from their free food delivery service. Meat, produce, salmon, breads, and soon poultry are included in what Farmer Frog grows. They also raise some animals for food and coordinate with large providers to delivery to those in need. This is a busy and effective organization!
Listen to a Farmer Frog Co-Founder tell the Farmer Frog story on this video.
