Is Federal Way a Nice Place to Live?

Rhody Garden Federal Way

Federal Way

Many people are often considering where would be a nice place to live at some point in their lives. Perhaps they live in a busy city and seek a quieter, more friendly place to live in. Or maybe, it’s someone in the city renting an apartment and is seeking to buy a first home. Alternatively, it could be that someone is just looking for somewhere different, perhaps downsizing or relocating. As far as safety, the northwest areas of Federal Way are reported as the safest. With the denser, more populated center having higher crime rates as most populated cities do.

Affordable Living

Perhaps it is because the median house cost is still affordable that many people are flocking to Federal Way. And, if you are looking to rent the rental costs are not too bad either, unlike some other areas in the state and neighboring states (Seattle, Portland **cough, cough**). Federal way is considered a suburb of Seattle, so for those needing to commute it is a much more affordable option and the commute time is not too bad at an average of 33 minutes.

Nature Lovers Welcome!

There are nice amenities within and not too far from Federal Way. It’s close to the Port of Tacoma with lovely beaches and natural beauty. There’s Dash Point State Park which has 400 acres to enjoy swimming, camping, hiking, biking and boating. Browns Point Lighthouse Park is a waterfront park where you can enjoy a picnic and can tour the lighthouse afterwards. There are many beautiful gardens like Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden, & Powell’s Wood Garden, a beautiful 3 acres of serene, landscaped gardens in a forest with a pond, stream and conservatory. Wild Waves theme and Water Park is fun in the summer months and closed during the wintertime. There’s Pacific Bonsai Museum with its miniature trees from around the world. Hikers or recreational walkers will enjoy West Hylebos Wetlands Park where there are trails through the wetlands.

As you can see, Federal Way is indeed a great choice to consider for those looking for a great place to call home.
